Buy and sell questions

At EA Collectibles, we strive to offer competitive rates for your Pokémon TCG singles while maintaining a fair and balanced market. To ensure accurate pricing, we implement a 30-day cool-off period for any newly released set. During this initial period, our offer rates are based on projected future values, as prices tend to be inflated due to high demand.

How We Determine Offers

Our buylist prices are influenced by several factors, including:

✔️ TCG Market Trends
✔️ Card Desirability & Demand

We rely on PriceCharting.com as a primary resource for assessing the market value of trading cards. This platform aggregates and displays the most recent completed sales of a given card from various online marketplaces, providing a general benchmark for its current market price. However, determining a card’s true value requires a more thorough evaluation. Beyond just referencing the latest sale prices, we carefully assess the card’s condition, taking into account factors such as centering, surface quality, edges, and corners. These elements can significantly impact the card’s final worth, ensuring that our pricing reflects not just market trends but also the specific condition and desirability of the card being sold.

When evaluating raw cards—those that have not been professionally graded—collectors and sellers commonly use specific condition terms to assess their quality. While grading companies like PSA, BGS, and SGC provide numerical grades for encapsulated cards, the following condition categories are widely utilized in the trading card industry for raw (ungraded) cards:

Common Condition Terms for Raw Cards

  1. Near Mint to Mint (NM-MT) – A high-quality card with minimal surface wear, sharp edges, and strong centering. There may be a slight factory imperfection, but no major flaws.
  2. Near Mint (NM) – A well-preserved card with slight edge or corner wear, minor print defects, or centering issues. The card still retains strong eye appeal.
  3. Excellent to Near Mint (EX-NM) – A card with moderate wear, possibly minor surface scratches, minor chipping on edges, or light corner rounding.
  4. Excellent (EX) – Noticeable edge wear, minor surface creases, or small surface imperfections but still structurally intact with decent appeal.
  5. Very Good (VG) – A card with obvious wear, soft corners, potential creases, and edge fraying. The card remains collectible but is not in premium condition.
  6. Good (GD) – Heavier wear, visible creases, rounded corners, and potential staining. Suitable for casual collecting but lacks investment appeal.
  7. Poor to Fair (PR-FR) – A card in heavily worn condition, often with major creases, discoloration, heavy edge damage, or even missing pieces.

Seven Days, a week 12-8

Starting a trading card collection is an exciting and rewarding journey that begins with a few essential steps. The first and most important step is to identify your interests and passions. Consider what excites you the most—whether it’s sports, movies, television shows, gaming, or another theme. By narrowing your focus, you’ll find collecting to be a more engaging and fulfilling experience.

Once you’ve chosen your area of interest, take the time to familiarize yourself with the different types of trading cards available. These may include base cards, inserts, autographed cards, memorabilia cards, and more. Understanding these variations, along with the reputations of different card manufacturers and the specific sets they produce, will help you make well-informed decisions about which cards to collect.

To get started, consider purchasing a starter set or booster packs, which offer a mix of cards and provide a solid foundation for your collection. You can also explore online marketplaces, local hobby shops, or trading card conventions to find cards that align with your interests.

Remember, collecting is a personal journey—there’s no right or wrong way to do it. Focus on acquiring cards that resonate with you and bring you joy, whether for nostalgia, investment, or the thrill of the hunt.
